Help me get to Greece!
Hi everyone,
I have some really meaningful news to share. I have been accepted into a residential writing workshop in Greece this May, held at Rosemary’s House. This will be an intimate creative residency where a small group of writers live and work together for a week of deep creative focus and mentorship by Deesha Philyaw.
Deesha Philyaw wrote The Secret Lives of Church Ladies which has won awards This collection of short stories is inspiring to me I strongly recommend you read it too.
The retreat runs May 23–30. We’ll be writing every day, workshopping in a small group, having one-on-one conversations about our projects, and fully immersing ourselves in the work. It’s all-inclusive once I arrive; housing, meals, and the full workshop experience are covered in the tuition.
Being selected feels like an affirmation of my writing and the direction I’m moving in.
The total cost is $7,000. Flights are about $2,000, and the remaining $5,000 covers tuition, housing, and meals for the week.
This opportunity means a lot to me. It’s dedicated time to focus deeply, stretch my craft, and build relationships with other serious writers.
I’m working toward raising the full $7,000, and I’m asking for support from the people who’ve always believed in me. If you’re able to contribute, whether that’s $25, $50, $100, or more, it would genuinely help me get there. If financial support isn’t possible, sharing this or sending encouragement means just as much.
I’m committed to making the most of this experience and bringing back the growth, pages, and stories that come from it. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
With love,
B. Kamilah Ricketts Morrison
